The "Add Shortcut" Method (Most Reliable)
This is the current "standard" workaround to trick the system into zipping the file for you.- Sign in to your Google account in the same browser.
- Go to your own Google Drive in a new tab.
- Create a New Folder on your Drive (name it anything, like "Temp Download").
- Go back to the restricted file's page. Click the three dots (top right) or right-click the file and select Organize > Add shortcut.
- Select the New Folder you just created and click Add.
- Go back to your Google Drive, right-click the folder you created, and select Download.
- Google will zip the folder (including the restricted file) and start the download.
