דע, כי אין שום דבר באדם שאינו מושרש בשורש עליון, וכל מציאותו של אדם בזה העולם — נפש, רוח, נשמה — נמשכת ממקום עליון אשר לא ינותק לעולם.

והנה האב הוא שורש ההתגלות של הנפש בגוף, והאם — כלי לגידולו. אבל האב — הוא הנוקב הראשון את חקיקת הנשמה בגשמיות, וכל מה שיתהווה אחר כך — כולו נמשך ממקור ההוא. ואף אם ירחיק האדם את עצמו במעשיו ובמחשבותיו, אין זה מפקיע את שורש ההתהוות.

וזהו שכתוב “כִּבֵּד אֶת אָבִיךָ וְאֶת אִמֶּךָ”, לא בשבילם, אלא בשבילך — כי מכבדם אתה מכבד את עצמך, שהרי הם כלי יצירתך. ואף אם האב היה רשע או אכזרי — אין זה מבטל את שורש האור שנתן בך, אלא שניתן לך לברר ולזקק את הניצוץ ההוא מתוך חשך ועמל.

והבן — לעולם נשאר “בן”, גם אם ניתק המעשה והרגש, שהרי בשורש אין הפסק. וכשם שאין אדם יכול לכפור בא-לוהיו באמת, כך אין נשמה יכולה לכפור בשורשה.

ואף כשיש דין בין האב לבן, ונראה שנגמר כל חיבור — שורש הקשר נשאר תלוי ועומד במעמקי הנפש, וממתין לרגע התיקון או לעת הגאולה.

כי זה כל האדם — להמשיך בירור מתוך העקמומיות, ולהפוך קושי למדרגה. ואם קיבל את הנשמה דרך צער, יוכל להפוך את הצער לכוח גדול של אהבה נסתרת
